Opening lecture in Fashion & Controversy series at the Fashion & Textile Museum

14 June 2005

All the signs seem to be pointing to a surge of interest in eco fashion and textiles. There's a plethora of labels offering eco alternatives in the news and the shops at the moment and my lecture on Eco Fashion and Textiles opened an evening series at Zandra Rhodes' Fashion and Textile Museum in London last Wednesday.

I introduced ecological ideas and design, guidelines for better design practice in textiles and fashion, key projects and trends for the future. Watch this space for news of my up and coming lectures.

Front page of the Times Higher!

4 April 2005

After a two hour photoshoot in the field next to where I live, my pic made it on to the cover of the Times Higher Educational Supplement (1 April 05). They featured my work with Mathilda Tham on fast and slow clothes (see our Lifetimes website) and there seems like a real appetite for these ideas. Watch this space!

Fashion addicts wanted

26 January 2005

Linked in with RE:Fashion, Anti Apathy is looking for 12 FASHION ADDICTS to take part in our Fashion Addict Challenge. The Experiment sets a mission for twelve intrepid fashion addicts: SURVIVE AND PROSPER shopping for sustainable fashion clothes that are recycled, reconditioned, organic or non- sweatshop. How far does the participants' money go? Can they resist cravings for the usual high street suspects? Can they see clothing in a new light? And, crucially, can they look good? Tasks and activities: Your mission will include a long hard look at your wardrobe and decluttering exercise; a guide to customising clothes; meeting fashion insiders like the editor of cheapdate.com. You'll also pick up advice from our stylist and some exclusive shopping tips, including shops and suppliers. The experiment will take place over 21 days from February 10th to 3rd March. This will only take 2-3 hours of your time per week. If you would like to be involved please contact sanjiv@antiapathy.org
